THERE WILL ALWAYS BE BULLDOGS It is said that contemplating a Bulldog can heal the worst cases of melancholy, living with one simply prevents it. Having a Bulldog at home is a comforting experience, either when he is pushing his head under your hand for you to caress him or when he snores peacefully lying at your feet, apparently far away from this world, even further than your satisfaction can go. Just as pearls lose their luster when not worn, the Bulldog languishes if not in direct contact with a human. The Bulldog never prospers in big professional kennels where other breeds can grow successfully. If you mean to breed dogs in big numbers, you have to take into account that as soon as the number is big enough that there is no possible personal contact with each of them to be recognised and caressed, to play with them and talk to them, they will become sad and lose their vivacity.Whatever adequate care the kennel may provide, it will not improve the condition of this dog as a companion, key factor they have kept through the years of shortages when the English workers, with inadecuate houses and little food, loved their dogs and became inseparable friends. It has been said this is the perfect dog for kids, since they are loving, docile, good guardians, not creating problems and staying calm and patient no matter how rude the game of the children might be.
A story is told of a mother who left a small child playing with the family Bulldog, and being so silent she suspected that something was wrong; she carefully tiptoed to the open door and saw, with much horror, that the baby had found a pincushion and was digging each of the pins into the poor dog. The tortured animal, able to overpower the " torturer" and just leave, just rolled his eyes like saying " Look what I have to put up with from your child "
